Don't forget, for more about Father Christmas, you can
October 2011
The North Pole is
buzzing with business now it's October. I have had to hire at least
seven hundred more elves to make sure all thr presents get organised
and wrapped on time and my house has so many magical folk in it that
it feels like a small town. I expect you're wondering how we all fit
into it – but Christmas House is a bit like Dr Who's tardis, it's
bigger on the inside. While we're on the subject, I've also heard
that many of you get confused about whether my home is in Lapland or
the North Pole. Well my dears, the answer is both! And some other
locations besides. You see, mine is such a very magical house that
it exists in more than one place at the same time.
As to other news, well,
I must say, I'm rather enjoying being on the internet more often... I
can see why you all like it so much. I imagine it must be great fun
doing your shopping online. Sadly, I can't seem to find many of the
things I stock my kitchen cupboard with, such as starlight tea and
moonbeam pie, but I am thinking of ordering a sack of reindeer oats.
That's if I can get anyone to believe my delivery address isn't some
sort of joke – it's not always easy being Father Christmas you
know.
I hope everybody
reading this is having a lovely October and to all children: don't
forget to carry on being good between now and Christmas, will you?
The reindeer and I all want you to stay on the Nice list so that we
can bring you some wonderful presents!
P.S. On the 31st have a Happy Halloween!
September 2011
I'm back at the North Pole and it has been a very busy month so far! The elves have started making lists of all the children who've been good enough to deserve presents, the reindeer have started getting fit for their long flight later in the year and I have been starting to gather together piles of the most wanted toys. My goodness, there are an awful lot children who want computery things this year! Some of my elves are having to become experts in IT.
Talking of newfangled devices, I got a lovely letter from a little girl asking why I hadn't got a mobile phone number she could call. Well my dears, even though I do use telephones occasionally, magical folk don't really need them. You see, when we want to talk to each other, all we have to do is say someone's name, whisper a magic Ear-Echo spell, and then everything we say is then sent straight to that person's ears. It doesn't matter if they are a million miles away, they can hear your voice exactly as if you were standing beside them... just like a mobile phone in fact! Isn't is funny how quickly technology is catching up with magic. Why, one day, you might even be able to manipulate time and space, like I do on Christmas Eve. But I think that's a subject for the future, don't you?
Back in the here and now, I'm very pleased this September, to see so many people enjoying an early mince pie. Oh, I know there are those who complain about them being in the shops too early and so on and so forth but I say, stop moaning and pop one in your mouth - they're delicious!! Mind you, we're jolly lucky these days because I can remember when they used to put real meat in them - I really am that old - and it never quite worked for me as a recipe. Up here in Christmas House, we add a little magic to the mincemeat, so that when you take your first bite, you can make a wish. You can't wish for anything too big, because the magic isn't very strong - but it's lots of fun to wish for little things, like a box of chocolates or bright pink hair.
Well, I'd better go and get on with the rest of my day. I can see Rudolph across the garden, headed this way. I expect he's popping in for a carrot and a cup of tea. I shall enjoy that, it's ages since we had a chat. As for you dear readers, I hope you're all well and happy and that you have a lovely month until next I write.
August 2011
Well now, isn't this box of light you call a computer rather marvellous? It's taken me a jolly long time to get around to using it, but here, on my summer holiday at the South Pole, I thought I'd give it a whirl. I think I could get used to this blogging lark. I might even try and persuade Rudolph to have a try, though I doubt he will. He's so terribly old fashioned you see - doesn't like anything new at all. Why, in 1923, when I first installed a telephone in his stable, he slept outside for a week! Said that people being able to ring a bell inside your home was a terrible invasion of privacy. So you can imagine how he is with computers, can't you? I'm quite certain if I let him anywhere near my laptop, it would end up buried outside in the snow.
Anyway, I must stop typing now and leave the virtual world for the real one. After all, I'm supposed to be on holiday you know.
